The first week of June gives as a much expected download: Windows 8 Release Preview.
As we have announced here, Windows 8 Release Preview will be delivered in June. This comes from the Twitter announcement that the Redmond based company has done on Twitter, a few days ago.
The scope of this new beta version of the already popular Microsoft OS is to allow computer and mobile devices enthusiasts to test once again this new operating system in its almost final shape.
A few time ago we have presented you the new W8 Consumer Preview, which has been introduced at the end of February, this year. This has been the second iteration of the well-known operating system which should come from the Redmond based company this year. The first one has been known as the Developer Preview and it has been available for download in September, 2011.
The differences between Release and Consumer Preview should be significant. The first should be the final stage of development of the W8 OS, following that the official version to be delivered this fall. Therefore, everybody expects that all the functions of this product to be already embedded in this last beta edition.
As it has proceeded with W7, Microsoft is expected to deliver a new kit with a limited functioning period.
Windows 8 is being expected in stores and on the new laptop HDD’s this October. Therefore, we will have the entire summer at our disposal in order to test the new operating system and to decide if it is a good idea to upgrade our current Windows 7. However, the rumors are saying that the version for tablets or ARM processor devices is not going to be delivered together with this Release Preview. So, from all the four versions that will be available for us this fall, only one of them will be included in the above mentioned beta program.
The PC manufacturers, which are considered to be the greatest W8 suppliers, will have at their disposal the new OS sooner than the common consumers. This is needed in order for the first ones to start working on their drivers and other needed applications.
W8 Release Preview to be delivered on the first week of June.
A few months ago some rumors were announcing that Microsoft is going to present a third iteration of their new product. At that time, people called it ‘Release Candidate’.
Steven Sinofsky has confirmed the rumor that a new Windows 8 beta version will be available for download. However, the President has named it ‘Release Preview’ instead of using the above mentioned name. Also, it has stated that the new test software shall be delivered in the first week of June.
