Even though there has been a lot of media coverage regarding the upcoming Windows 8 Consumer Preview, including on our website, Microsoft has decided to also let everybody know using their Bing homepage with the Beta Fish.
As you may remember, when Windows 7 beta was released the standard desktop background was a golden-red fish, so it would make sense for Microsoft to follow the same pattern with this new beta – now renamed to Consumer Preview.
Using the Bing home page, Microsoft is trying to let the users know about their most anticipated product Windows 8 Consumer preview by creating a special start page, that contains a video of a fish swimming and a few tool-tips about Windows 8.
Bing and the Beta Fish welcome you to Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
If somehow you cannot view the Bing homepage and the Beta fish, you can use the following link to access the start page that we have been talking about. Some sources claim that Microsoft will use this page in Internet Explorer 10, once the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is released for the general public. The beta fish is swimming through some tool-tips that inform you about Windows 8 blog, about the upcoming Internet Explorer 10 and many others.
Towards the bottom of the beta fish and bing home page you will notice that Microsoft added some links to the Windows 8 Store and Windows DevCenter. The links are currently unavailable but they should be live as soon as the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is available for download.
If you cannot view the beta fish on the bing homepage, you can try by accessing this link.
