Just days after Instagram launching on Android we are seeing a lot of discussions on the subject. Some talk about the number of app downloads that increases significantly with each minute that goes by while others comment on the bugs found when using Instagram app for Android.
As a result, the developer team behind Instagram app decided to release an update right after the app download link was live and another update following only a day later than the first one. While the second update seems to have pretty much solved what Android users were complaining about, there are still some usability issues with Instagram app for Android.
One of the most significant bugs that were fixed with the two updates referred to the fact that Instagram crashed each time a photo already taken was uploaded to the profile. Other bugs or issues with Instagram concerned picture resolution once you applied filters and Instagram. Fortunately though, the Instagram team was really fast in picking up the bugs and they released the updates almost immediately.
Users owning a HTC Android device pointed out regarding another serious bug of Instagram app. It seems that when it was released initially, Instagram was not compatible with every HTC device so you can imagine how much frustration was among HTC owners when the app crashed.
Another issue with Instagram app for Android involves the camera used to take a picture with your Android device. Other picture sharing apps allow users to use the default Android camera app or any 3rd party app to take pictures. The latest 1.0.2 update for Instagram now allows you to take pictures with a different app and share it with Instagram. Here is how you can use in Instagram app for Android the camera app that you have gotten used to.
- Run Instagram and then open the Settings menu by tapping on the button found in the upper right corner
- Go to the ‘Camera settings’
- In the next screen you will have to tap once on the ‘Use Instagram advanced camera’ to disable the app’s own camera.
- Exit the settings menu and try to take a picture with Instagram and select the camera option.
- Select the camera app that you want
