We are all familiar with the familiar with the awful situation which many of the iPhone 4 users which have upgraded to iOS 5, cannot unlock them anymore. The upgrade could have happen due to the fact that those users weren’t careful enough and have accepted the update to iOS 5 or just because they did not know about the fact that this upgrade will block their device. No matter what is the reason, since the last mobile operating system from Apple has been released, those iPhone 4 devices which have the 04.11.08 baseband are stuck.
Besides the fact that GEVEY SIM developers are currently working on the new SIM which will be able to unlock the a/m baseband, we are now informed that R-SIM has joined this trial and are preparing to release the fourth generation of SIM’s that will be able to unlock the already popular iPhone 4 04.11.08 baseband.
Regarding the release date of this equipment, the manufacturers are not giving too many details. However the rumors are telling that we have to wait just a few more weeks.
Therefore, if you have updated by mistake to iOS 5 and your iPhone 4 has the 04.11.08 baseband, or if you had no idea that it will not be possible anymore to unlock it, then I consider that this is a great news for you. Unless you are traveling abroad, or dont have a good AT&T signal, why unlock? Turbo SIMs are questionable legally in the US, and are illegal in Europe, why not just pick up an unlocked iPhone 2G off eBay fir $60 and be legal?
Otherwise in the US there are plenty of low cost AT&T MVNO alternatives, I sell both h2O and Red Pocket pay as you go SIMs, no unlocking required your iPhone 4/4s runs native on both h2O and Red Pocket.
