Apple’s iPhone 5 Could Have the Smallest SIM Ever – Nano-SIM

Great news for Apple and the iPhone 5, the German company Giesecke & Devrient, has produced a SIM card smaller than the ones we have at the moment, called Nano-SIM.

This new card is 30% smaller than the Micro-SIM currently used by the iPhone 4 and only measures 12x9mm compared to the previous measuring of 15x12mm. It is expected that the standard of Nano-SIM be accepted by the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) by the end of the 2011.

The event which Apple will hold in October will be on 4th at 10 am. This is official. Un-official the rumours say that this should be the release date of  iPhone 5, after all.
I know that we wrote a lot of posts regarding the long-waited iPhone 5 and in some of them we announced that it will not be released at the Apple event on 4th of October. Please don’t blame us, that is the media today :D .

According to greek site DigitalLife and their 100% reliable and not disclosed sources, there will be no iPhone 5 in 2011, just a pimped up version of the current iPhone 4, which will be simply called iPhone 4s.

Here are the upgrades vs iPhone 4:

8 megapixel camera
1080p video rendering  at 30 frames/second
second antenna on the top for improved signal
A5 dual core processor at 1GHz

It seems that the new and improved iPhone 4s will be announced early October and hit the market in North America on the 21th, same month.
