A court in southern China has ruled that the international technology company Apple does not have the right to use the trademark “iPad” for its tablet computer in the Asian giant market, as it originally belongs to a local firm with which Apple has to negotiate, reported the official news agency Xinhua.
According to the decision of Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court, the city where Apple just assembles many of the iPads sold worldwide, the legal use of that mark belongs to a firm called “Proview Technology”, based in neighboring state Hong Kong, and was registered in 2000.
