Aiming somewhere at the entry level of the niche, this new tablet from Samsung called Galaxy Tab 2 features a 7 inch screen and comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which in fact is the only novelty.

If you’ve been paying close attention to the tablet market, the Samsung Galaxy tablets are the main challengers to Apple’s iPad in the world, much like the Galaxy line is to the iPhone. Some say that the company from South Korea is still far from its American competitor in this segment but with the recent announcements, the gap has shortened.

Samsung Officially Announces Galaxy Tab 2

While the iPad 3 should be officially presented sometime in March, Samsung has recently announced officially one of the newest models of its of 7 inches range. The Galaxy Tab 2 replaces the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and aims to be an entry level tablet.

Not that many changes in Galaxy Tab 2.

The design of the new Galaxy Tab 2 is similar to its bigger sister, as its configuration is somewhat, higher. Its 7-inch screen displays a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, with a dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz and 1 GB of RAM (512 MB cons). Galaxy Tab 2 7inches comes with 16 or 32 GB of storage space and two photo sensors.

The major change is the fact that the new Galaxy will be running Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), not Honeycomb like other Galaxy Tabs from the range. This is the only real novelty of the new Galaxy Tab 2. As you would expect, Samsung will offer variations of the new Galaxy Tab depending on storage space and connectivity (Wi-Fi and Wi-FI/3G +). While information related to pricing has not been disclosed, Galaxy Tab 2 is expected to launch in March. Apple anyone?
