The most anticipated device of the year is probably the Samsung Galaxy S3, which will be unveiled by the Korean manufacturer at a conference scheduled in April. While waiting for the official announcement from Samsung, analysts connected to the field can’t do anything than to speculate if the GT-I9300 is the upcoming Galaxy S3 or not.

The guys at Talk Android just reported that the Samsung GT-I9300 is actually Galaxy M and not the Galaxy S3 that we are all eagerly waiting for. They say that GSM Arena, the most popular phone reviewer, titled the GT-I9300 to be Galaxy M and not Galaxy S3 as everyone expects. If we follow Samsung’s pattern used for the previously two Galaxy S models, the GT-I9000 and the GT-I9100 you would expect the Galaxy S3 to be GT-I9300.

No matter if the Samsung GT-I9300 will be Galaxy M or Galaxy S3, it is very clear that it will be able to detect if you’re holding it in front of your face or not, based on an eye-tracking feature. This feature extends to a point where it can detect if you are lying on the sofa and adjust the screen accordingly, so that you can easily view it.

The eye-tracking feature from the upcoming Samsung GT-I9300, be it the Galaxy S3 or Galaxy M, is pretty much state of the art technology and could be developed further in a way that you would control everything with just your eyes.

GSM Arena and Talk Android also reported that whenever you receive a text message, you no longer have to touch the dial button on the Samsung GT-I9300, Galaxy M or Galaxy S3, because it will automatically detect when you point the phone to your year. This feature looks like it’s going to seriously improve the ergonomics of using an Android smartphone, because it saves you from doing a couple of actions.

With the new Samsung GT-I9300, expected to be Galaxy M rather than Galaxy S3, you will be able to e-mail to your friends tagged in a photo, thanks to an update for the Group Photos from your Android Contact list.

Like we already said, it is not very clear if Samsung GT-I9300 will be Galaxy M and not Galaxy S but we can say for sure that the device will come with a biometric functions monitor, a feature quite useful for those of you who would like to keep an eye on the heart beats. To use the biometric monitor feature you will have to purchase additional hardware but still, it’s interesting to know that it can do such a thing. This year’s Summer Olympics is sponsored by Samsung so it’s another reason for implementing the feature in a handheld device.

The features that we described above would make more sense in a flagship device like the Galaxy S3 and not in a Galaxy M. I guess that we’ll have to wait for Samsung’s conference taking place this month to see if the Samsung GT-I9300 will be a flagship Galaxy S3 or just a mid level Galaxy M.
