According to some South Korean sources, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3, which is expected to be released in the spring of this year, will have a thickness of only 7 mm. This would mean that it is going to be thinner than the 1.49mm Samsung Galaxy S2 and 2.3 mm thinner than the iPhone 4S. The 7mm thick Samsung Galaxy S4 will come with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) installed and it will have a quad core processor.

As you would expect for Samsung, the 7mm thick Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone will use the Super Plus AMOLED display. While it’s nice to see that Samsung continues to push the limits with their hardware, we expect the company to spend as much time to update the overall quality of the devices as well.

The company decided that the successor model of the Galaxy S2 should be more compact, so they started to use components between 10 and 20% thinner, although the 8-megapixel camera probably represents a small bump in the rear. The 7mm thick Samsung Galaxy S3 will also have a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls, as well as the ability to capture video in Full HD format. In terms of connectivity it will support the 4G LTE standard.

Although Samsung has stated that the 7mm thick Samsung Galaxy S3 will not be revealed during the Mobile World Conference 2012 , the company said that the launch should occur sometime in May.
