Apple has announced OS X Mountain Lion as the fist major change from 10.7. The truth is that nobody was expecting that Apple will hurry up in order to release a new version of the popular operating system, since Lion cannot be considered so old. We are talking here about an operating system which, starting with Lion, has borrowed some of the functions which can be found in the iOS running devices. Therefore the OS X Mountain will look more attractive and also very accessible. And all of these are coming in a system which was already considered very user friendly when compared to other competing operating systems.
However OS X Mountain Lion is able to offer us a complete vision on what Apple is thinking to provide us with when it comes to operating systems and platforms.

The notifications system in Lion is far from being very innovative. But OS X Mountain Lion comes to improve this side of the platform. Every Facebook friend request, every calendar notification, instant message or e-mail are now being displayed as a short and subtle announcement which will not bother the user. In the same time the notifications are gathered in a panel which looks very similar to the one in iOS. Therefore they can be easily accessed.
Due to the fact that OS X Mountain Lion is available only for those which have a developer account at Apple, it’s almost impossible to install this new operating system on your computer. also, it is not completely finished, therefore it doesn’t look as a great idea to run this system for the moment.
But, since it will be released this summer, it doesn’t mean that you have to wait until then in order to use the new notification system on your OS X Lion. We will show you how to do that.
The Dribble design group will help us once again to bring on OS X Lion the amazing notification system which will be provided together with OS X Mountain Lion. This will be done by installing a new theme for the Growl. The name of this theme is very intuitively called “Mountain Lion Growl Theme”.
In the Growl preferences menu you need to access the “Displays” tab and select the default style you may want to use and also the opacity and the duration of the notifications. Also, there is an option through which you can limit the lines which will be displayed by the notification system.
The Mountain Lion Theme is free and can be downloaded from here. After the download process has ended, you just need to open the archive and run the executable file.
