October 19th: Nexus Prime with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Will we see live the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running on Nexus Prime on October 19th?

Yes, we will. It’s official. The “Nexus Prime” event was postponed by the Google-Samsung joint from the date of 11th of October, because it was too close to the date when Steve Jobs passed away. Initially, the event in which when Nexus Prime with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich should have been launched, was scheduled for 11th of October. Now it has been officially re-scheduled on 19th of October. The Nexus Prime event will be kept in Hong Kong.

The name of this event suggests that the Samsung’s Nexus Prime smartphone will be launched at that date. Also, rumors are saying that, together, with the new phone, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be released, too.

The long waited event is supposed to start at 10 AM, Eastern time. YouTube will ensure the live broadcasting from Nexus Prime launch meeting. In the invitation we can find a picture of an Ice Cream Sandwich, suggesting the long-waited presentation of the Android 4.0 OS and also some text message: “Calling All First-to-Knowers” .

“Something delicious is coming”. This is the message that Android team has posted on Twitter when they brought the Android Ice Cream Sandwich statue to Google.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is a new OS built by uniting two already well known platforms: Android Gingerbread which is the OS dedicated to smartphones and Gingerbread, the OS created to run on tablets.

As for the curved Nexus Prime which Samsung teased in their Unpacked event, rumors say that it will feature a 4,65 inched display with 720p resolution, an 1.2 Ghz  TI OMPA processor and, also, 1 GB of RAM memory.

Because Steve Jobs died on 5th of October, the “Nexus Prime” event which was supposed to be kept 6 days later was postponed. The officials said that they have done this as an act of respect for ex-Apple’s CEO. They mentioned that it wouldn’t be right for them to keep the event in a such short time after the sad passing of Steve Jobs. Some would say that Samsung-Google joint has feared of the lack of attention for their event if they would have kept the date of October 11th, due to the fact that the whole media was still shocked by the death of Apple’s founder. The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was supposed to be presented in that day too by Samsung-Google joint but it was rescheduled,too. And one more detail on this fact: the location for the event of 11th of October should have been San Diego, US.

Google already gave some details regarding the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS at their press conference, in May. Some rumors have been confirmed by Eric Schmidt itself (the chairman of Google), last month, when he said that the new Android OS will be presented in a month or two period.

Rumors on release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the new Nexus Prime kept flowing day by day, in the last months. One Twitter user said it has credible sources which advise that Nexus Prime will be delivered by Horizon and Sprint starting November the 3rd. Notion Ink CEO itself, Rohan Shravan said that his tablet will soon run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
