iPhone 5 could be thinner and come with new touch panels technology.

The release of the new iPhone 5 is far away. But the rumors on it are not going to stop. If we have just found out that the release date of the new device has been postponed in October, 2012, due to a shortage on 4G chips, we are now witnessing to new rumors related to the components which will be delivered inside this smartphone.

The new rumors on iPhone 5 say that Apple could use new touch panels inside their newest flagship. The new panels are being called in-cell, they are thinner when compared to the ones which are being used right now in iPhone 4S and they could allow the Cupertino based company to reduce the size of the entire device, which ,obviously, is a great improvement for any kind of smartphone.

The cell panels which will come in the iPhone 5 could be produced by Sharp or Toshiba and this rumor is said to be confirmed by sources inside Apple company. The thing that this panels are thinner looks like was major factor which determined the Cupertino based company in making this decision. Of course, the fruit company is counting on reducing the entire size of their new iPhone 5.

This new technology is called in-cell and it is based on the placement of touch sensors directly in the color filters that are being inserted in these displays and not on the top of them as they are being placed in the current panel technologies. Therefore Apple could drop their traditional partners in order to implement this new technology. The difference between the dimensions of the new and old displays cannot be too big but, combined with some other modifications of the internal hardware structure, it could lead to a half a millimeter decreasing of the new iPhone 5 thickness.

Of course, implanting this new technology comes also with some risks. Apple could produce a big number of faulty  iPhone 5 devices but the Cupertino based company is always changing rapidly the defective devices.
