It looks like Apple is testing their iPad 3 or iPhone 5 devices on Ars Technica : iOS 6.0, new Retina Display and WebKit engine traces discovered on the above mentioned site.

Having in mind that any person which surfs the web leaves on the host servers of different sites some information which is related to the device that has accessed that specific website, ArsTechnica was able to obtain some information which are connected to the new iPad 3: we are talking here about iOS 6.0 and Retina Display with a resolution of 2048×1536.

After studying the webserver log on which their site is hosted, the guys from Ars have come upon some entries which are suggesting that their website has been visited by iOS 6.0 devices. Of course, it is impossible to tell for sure that those devices were the awiated iPad 3 tablets. Also nobody can confirm, for the moment, that the iOS 6.0 operating system, which has accessed the Ars Technica site, is its final version or there were made some tests on it.

A device which has accessed the above mentioned website had the resolution of 2048×1536 and that’s not a common size. It is known that iPad 3 will use a display with this size, which is provided by Sharp Electronics. This idea is suggested by the fact that no other known device is currently having this particular resolution.

As a supplementary element which is differentiating the data on the Ars Technica log, the devices which were running on iOS 6.0 have been equipped also with a newversion of web pages rendering engine, called WebKit.

Ars Technica has checked the IP’s from which the iOS powered devices, with new Retina display resolution, have visited the popular website. The surprise wasn’t too big, though: Apple, Cupertino. Now this confirms the fact that Apple is currently testing their devices in-house.

iOS 6.0 is expected to be released together with the new iPhone 5, this summer. Therefore, we consider that there are small chances that this new operating system to come up on Wednesday, 7th of March, which is the release date of iPad 3.
