We have some great news coming from the well known portal Pocke-lint, which according to their sources says that HTC will be the first company, besides Sony, getting the PlayStation certification for their mobile devices, complying with what was said a year ago at the launch of the PS Vita in Japan when Kaz Hirai, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, stated: “Will expand the PlayStation experience beyond the border of the PSP”

In a few weeks, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we should be expecting more news on this matter, and after obtaining the approval from the Japanese company, we could see later this year a HTC device with the PlayStation logo and therefore the ability to access the PlayStation Network and play PlayStation One classic titles like Crash Bandicoot and many more.

HTC Might Get PlayStation Certification In 2012

The PlayStation certification program  s a multi-platform initiative for Android smartphones and tablets designed to appeal to manufacturers and players alike, as the company intends to continue its success in the field of mobile gaming.

Despite being a measure that has taken a long time to crystallize, this will provide a big boost for HTC by providing them a gaming platform approach to their smartphones, which is expected to help counter the great 2012 success of Samsung in the Android handset market, turning tables and boosting HTC back on top.

Pocket-lint says HTC certified models will not leave for the market until the second half of 2012 and does not clarify whether launched models will be certified before that date. No reference is made to whether they will be smartphones, tablets or both. Let’s wait and see what happens in Barcelona later this month.
