This tutorial will teach you how to use your iPad as mass storage device with USB Flash Drive app.
As the number of iPad users is constantly growing I thought it would be a good idea for all of us to learn how to use our iOS tablets as mass storage devices, or shortly said, as an USB flash drive. And that’s somehow necessary, as, no matter how hard you would struggle to fill those 32 GB with music, I consider is very “tough” to accomplish that.
Of course, iOS would not allow to use our iPad by default for this kind of job but we will get some help from an application. Its name is very simple and intuitive: USB Flash Drive. The main purpose of this application is to allow its users to trasnfer any kind of file in their iPad.
How To Use iPad As An USB Flash Drive (Mass Storage Device)
Even after you install the USB Flash Drive applications on your iPad, you won’t be able to spot it as a mass storage device, when connecting the gadget to a computer. But, don’t worry, because you will be still able to transfer any kind of file in the internal memory of this gadget. In order to accomplish this task, iTunes is still required.
After connecting your iPad to the computer, access iTunes, and head to its Apps menu, then select the USB Flash Drive app. Here you need to open another menu, called Documents. You will select the files you need to copy by clicking on the Add button or using the drag and drop method. Because of this options you will find the USB Flash Drive interface very friendly and easy to use.
When the files transfer has ended, you have to select the Apply Changes command in order for your iPad to be able to show you the newly copied files. Using the USB Flash Drive application you have several displaying options: you can choose your files to be displayed in an alphabetical order (using the Sort option) or you can delete the ones you no longer need. Don’t expect to be able to open any of the files you have just trasnfered. The application is useful only when it comes to store some data.
You must know that the USB flash drive app for iPad is free but you will have to “endure” some ads displaying. However, you will easily skip this feeling due to the fact this app is very useful when it comes to transform your iPad into a mass storage device.
