I know that most of you have downloaded and installed Windows 8 Developer Preview in order to test it or accommodate with the new OS which will be released by Microsoft this year. Therefore, you have observed that when you lock your computer Windows 8 will display a nice image that contains the date, the time and some shortcuts which are useful in the login phase. Personally I am happy with this screen but there are some users which would like to have their own customized lock screen. Therefore, I decided to create a tutorial on how to change the Windows 8 lock screen with a custom image.

How To Replace the Windows 8 Lock Screen Image

1. In the beginning you need to decide what image will you use for the windows 8 Lock screen. After that copy that image in the Sample Pictures folder. If you don’t know where this folder is, then follow this path: C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Sample Picture.

2. The next step in this tutorial is to head to the Control Panel in the Metro Interface. Once you opened the CP, click on the Personalize Tab. On the lower part of this tab you will have the option to choose between four lock screens which are already preset.

3. Of course, you need to select your own image, therefore, click on the Browse button. In the menu that will appear you will be able to see all the images that are saved in the Sample Picture folder. Therefore, your desired image will be found there, too. Select it and click on the “Choose Picture” button.
