The Redmond based company, Microsoft, has released their first application for Skype, the well-known internet call service. The new application will work on the Windows Phone smartphones.

The new application can be downloaded for free and installed from Windows Phone Marketplace. It is available in 18 languages and works, for the moment, on the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango devices.

After presenting a preview of this application, Skype for Windows Phone has been delivered without the Beta status. Even if there have been some limits which Windows Phone users have encountered while using this application, Microsoft, which has bought Skype, finally delivers it completely for their mobile platform.

Furthermore, Skype is the newest application in PlayStation store, too. Even if this feature was offered on the old PSP, it was coming with a major drawback: the lack of support for camera was reducing the experience with this application to just a common audio chat. As PlayStation Vita is coming on the market with not one but two cameras, Skype looks now like a great application for the gaming console, too.

With all these releases we can only pull the conclusion that Skype has also become a much appreciated application (or you might call it a platform) in the mobile world, too. Therefore, the attention of many developers has been turned on this environment, too.

Let’s take for example the iOS developer called dmarinov. IT has created a Cydia tweak which will allow you to record all your conversations in which you participate while using Skype on your iPhone. Obviously, because this is a tweak, you will have to jailbreak your device first and then install it from Cydia.

The name of this new tweak is very simple and suggestive: ‘Call Recorder for Skype’. And the purpose of this tweak is exactly what its name says. Even if, at the first look, it doesn’t seem to provide too much usability, some might consider it helpful if they are having a lot of daily conversations and some things might be forgotten.

You will find ‘Call Recorder for Skype’ a very simple and intuitive tweak. That’s because, after you run the installation, you won’t have to do any other settings. Just access the standard interface of your iOS Skype application and use this tweak too. You will also find some preferences of this app in the Settings menu, however, the most important one is that which lets you turn it on or off.

After you turn on the Skype recording feature, all your calls will be recorded and saved in the internal memory of your smartphone. The access to those files can be done through the Settings menu of this tweak. According to the author of this tweak, if the Skype account has some credit, the recording feature will be automatically turned on. Also, you should know that, while using this call recorder feature, the persons which are being recorded need to be notified.

In order to download ‘Call Recorder for Skype’ you have to open Cydia and head to ModMyi repo. The price of this tweak is $6.99. Also, you should know that this is a one time buy. The application works on iOS 4 or higher.
