After months of waiting, in which everybody rumored all kinf of things about the new iPad, Apple has managed, finally, to release the much expected gadget. This event took place in San Francisco, California.

Maybe the most surprising thing is the fact that iPad 3 is not being called in this way. Some would expect that it would have been called iPad HD. But no…this didn’t prove to be right thing. IT is called simply…iPad. It also doesn’t look very different from the previous tablet, but believe me, inside, it is different.

The new tablet comes with a high definition display. The resolution is much more higher when compared with iPad 2: 2048 x 1536 pixels. Apple has described this retina-display as providing such a high pixels density that human eyes cannot distinguish the individual pixels.

iPad comes also with 4G connectivity, which is the first debut of Apple in this market area. Together with a contract at AT&T or Verizon, you will be able to surf the net using 10 times higher data speed, when compared to those offered by 3G networks. However, the new iPad is able also to work on 3G networks, in countries where 4G is not available.

The hardware configuration of the new iPad impresses us. Even if the exterior design has not been modified a lot, inside we have some quite nice surprises. The CPU is very fast: A5x 1 GHz. Apple says that this new CPU offers 2 times more speed when compared with the A5 which is being placed in iPad 2. It is also 4 times faster than the Tegra 2 CPU which is embedded in most Android Tablets.

The photo sensor in the new iPad 2 has a capacity of 5 megapixels. IT is able to shoot videos and take photos at the high definition resolution of 1080p. The frontal camera comes with a 0.7 Megapixels sensor and it is able also to use the 720p standard definition.

New applications are also available for iPad. Retina Display will show now its capabilities with modified apps, which have been optimized for its huge resolution. iMovie Application, for example, will come with new editing options and will help posting content automatically on different social networks, like YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook or Apple TV. The new iMovie allows its users to edit their video recordings with the help of 9 presets. Also, their preffered soundtracks can be incorporated, too.

The battery of the new iPad looks like it is very powerful: it offers 10 hours autonomy. However, if it used in 4G networks, the autonomy time drops to 9 hours. This is still very good.

The Wi-Fi version of the new iPad with 16GB internal storage costs $499. The 32 GB and 64 GB models have the price of $699/ $829.

The new iPad is already available for pre-orders. However, they are limited to US carriers only, for the moment. You will have the chance to pre-order your new iPad from AT&T or Verizon.
