XLaunchpad is a Windows application which will bring the famous OS X launchpad right on your desktop.
There many Windows fans. And most of them are admitting that OS X looks great, even if, it is somehow hard to work with, if you are not used to do that.
But both Windows and OS X platforms have now something in common. They are going to be adjusted so that they meet the requirements which, until now, were requested only on mobile devices.
We have seen from the Windows 8 Consumer Preview that the Microsoft trend is to provide a Metro interface which is based on tiles and has no start menu. Instead of it we are receiving a start screen. This is pretty familiar with what we have seen until now in the Windows Phone platform. And that’s no wonder. Windows 8 will run both on desktops and tablets PC’s. Furthermore it will integrate pieces of the Xbox platform and a new applications store, which looks like is configured as the new Google Play. Definitely, we are witnesses to a major change in the world of operating systems: the word “mobile” is on each developer’s leaps.
Apple is, obviously, taking part to this new game. They have prepared their new OS X Mountain Lion operating system so that it will met the requirements which its users were demanding until now from their iPhones and iPads. Therefore the experience of using both the mobile and desktop/ laptop machines from the Cupertino based company will be more than complete…and simple, too!
Now let’s head to the main subject of our article. After establishing that we are living in an era where computer operating systems tend to become as mobile as they can, no matter on what devices they are installed, we also find out that there is a mixture between the users preferences. For example, I know a lot of Windows deskptops/ laptops users which are currently owning and using an iPad, which, obviously runs on iOS. And I understand this phenomenon: they have been used to Windows computers as they are (or they were) very popular but the new technologies trends are currently making them adopting new kind of devices with new operating systems.
Therefore I decided to present you a solution through which you can bring on your desktop a beautiful and useful feature. I am referring here to the famous launchpad we have met in OS X. The name of this application is XLaunchpad and you will be amazed of how much it resembles ot the original OS X Launchpad.
If you are thinking that your system will not support it, don’t worry. XLaunchpad is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8 Consumer Preview, too.
We would love to hear your opinion on Xlaunchpad. How good do you think it is when compared with the original OS X launchpad.
