Gmail is a very good email service. Therefore it has a lot of users. And that’s no wonder. It provides a lot of interesting stuff and also a very friendly and quick interface. I admit that I am a huge fan of this service.

However, I don’t like only one feature which Gmail provides. And that’s the chat functions. OK, I believe there are a lot of Gmail users which are used to chat right from the Gmail interface. but I am not one of them. I don’t even use the IM service, Google Talk, which is a separate chat application.

And I have the feeling that I am not the only one which doesn’t use this service and would like to find out how to disable the chat feature from Gmail. So let’s see what you have to do.

How To Disable Chat From Gmail (tutorial)

1. First of all, you need to access the settings page in Gmail.

2. Choose the “Chat Off” Tab.

3. Click on the following button: “Save Changes”

4. Even if the above three steps are very easy to follow, Gmail provides you with a very simple and quick access to the settings page we have described above.

Whenever you need to use the Gmail chat service inside the email interface, you can re-activate it by following the same steps of the tutorial mentioned above and selecting the following button: “Chat On”.

You can follow the same tutorial whether you need to disable chat in standard Gmail account or in the google apps account, too.
