Google X Project – Building Your Future

Research to innovate and develop ideas that are ahead of time. This must be the premise for a place somewhere on Earth, in the laboratory “X” at Google. New York Times reveals some parts of the secret behind this place where Google is currently developing a list of 100 amazing ideas on robotics and artificial intelligence. The future is being built right now, with ideas that revolve around technology and engineering, in a place where many of the world’s most renowned scientists strive to imagine what’s to come.

This is a lab where the robots runs freely, where every element is connected to the network and where engineering can replace human labor. What we have seen hundreds of times in the great works of science fiction is a real effort right now.

Access to laboratory “X” is supposed to be granted to a few chosen people and most employees have no idea of its existence. At this moment there seems to be only a list of 100 ideas in development , mostly in a conceptual phase, still far from becoming reality, though, a first project might be announced by the end of this year.

News about the construction of cars without driver got out of the same laboratory.

Rumors say that both Sergey Brin and Larry Page are deeply involved in the project. From what little we know, Google X would be led by Sebastian Thrun, one of the foremost experts in the world in robotics and artificial intelligence and a professor at Stanford. The rest of the squad would consist of scientists and engineers coming out of Microsoft, Nokia Labs, MIT, Stanford and the University of New York.
