With all the carnivals currently taking place all across the world, Microsoft decided to give Windows 7 users the possibility to customize the appearance of their operating system with themes matching the some of the venues. This is why three new themes called Masquerade, Dark Skies and Ghost Town have been added to the Windows 7 theme gallery on Microsoft’s website.

The Masquerade theme is supposed to bring to your Windows 7 a little bit of the Masquerade Carnival taking place in Venice, with an aristocratic and mystery look for your desktop. We can find touches from the Mardi Gras carnival and also from the famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival with the help of carnival masks, having feathers, bells and glitter.

The Dark Skies theme for Windows 7 wants to send you a bit of Hitchcock or Twin Peaks like vibe, with flocks of bird bursting forth across the sky, tree and cloud silhouettes or with fences that stretch indefinitely to dark horizons. If you prefer a darker look for your Windows 7 interface, the Dark Skies theme brings you a toned down color and matching desktop background.

The Ghost Town theme for Windows 7 is similar to Dark Skies but without the darker look of the color theme. If you like abandoned cities or buildings themed wallpapers then you should check out the desktop backgrounds of California taken by Tracy Hymas, in sepia tone.
