- Download the Metro UI tweaker that lets you disable or enable various features in Windows 8. Once you download the archive, you need to extract its content because you will have to run the Tweaker.exe that you find in the folder.
- Before executing the tweak, you must first give it admin access. You will have to right click on the tweaker.exe file and chose to run it as administrator. If you did not disable the User Account Control, click on yes when prompted.
- The Metro UI Tweaker application should now open. In order to disable the Windows 8 Start Screen you will have to click apply on the ‘disable metro start menu’ button that you can find in the main window of the application. As with any other tweak, the application will advise you that a reboot is required in order to complete the action so click on Yes when prompted.
- Restart your computer and that’s it. This is how you disable the Windows 8 Start Screen.
