To protect your computer from viruses, spyware or any other kind of threats, Microsoft developed an anti-virus software called Microsoft Security Essentials. While initially it was intended to be used as an alternative to other 3rd party protection software, it was later on renamed to Windows Defender and integrated as the default protection service from Windows 7 or from the upcoming Windows 8.
One of the biggest problems that happen while working on the PC is that you can easily get caught up into a project and forget to take a break. If you do not take a PC break from time to time, your eyes will start to get tired, fatigue will take over you and in the end you will notice that you have a headache once you decide to shut down the computer.
With the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, Microsoft wants to improve as many aspects of the user experience as possible. One feature that they decided to focus on in Windows 8 is the extended display and second screen that you use while you’re working on the desktop PC. An interesting fact about this feature is that you can have the Windows 8 Start Screen on one monitor and the desktop on the second screen.
A while ago the internet was full of Windows 8 Consumer Preview news. In the first hours since, this OS has been released, more than one million of copies have been downloaded. That’s a huge success for Microsoft but nobody had wondered about it. Maybe that’s because the new Windows 8 comes with many fresh features and in fact it uses a platform which totally different from the one that we are used, since the 95 version.
When Windows 8 will finally be released users will notice that IE 10 comes with Microsoft’s Bing setup as the homepage or default search engine, for both the Metro and desktop version of the popular internet browser.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview was released more than a month ago but I recently read a report which stated that Windows 8 adoption among users is still in low numbers. This happens probably due to the fact that Windows 8 Consumer Preview is aimed at both touch enabled devices and desktop PC’s. While you can install Windows 8 on the latter, you can barely see any tablets available that are ready for the new operating system.
Saving file after file on your desktop or extracting contents of archives in the same location, can lead to having a clogged up desktop, full of icons which you do not necessarily use or need. To increase productivity while you’re working on the computer, you should get rid of such files or icons wasting desktop space and then arrange the remaining icons in a way that will help you identify them easily.
I am pretty sure that sometimes while you were working on the computer, you reached a point when all those open windows did more damage than help. Sure, you could start analyzing which one you actually need and which not and close them separately, but this would take a lot of time. For windows opened by Windows explorer, you can press the Shift key and then click on the close button to immediately close them but what can you do about windows opened by third party software?
Windows 8 comes with two instances or versions of Internet Explorer 10, one that is strictly related to the new Metro UI and one tied to the classic desktop interface. In the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, it looks like the Metro version of Internet Explorer 10 will be set as the default browser; Microsoft allows you to change this settings in any moment, to the desktop version of the IE 10 browser.
Not being able to access a website can lead to a user testing if everything is ok with the internet connection. In most of these cases, you cannot access the website because it was restricted to only a specific geographic location based on IP, to protect the administrator of the domain from breaking laws that exist in other regions.
An example would be the Pandora online radio service, which in theory can be accessed only from inside the United States. YouTube also has a limited availability restriction for some of the videos uploaded by music record companies.
