Amazon – Verizon: 1 penny Phones

Great news! Amazon will sell almost all Verizon phones with 1 penny each.

Beginning with Monday, 17th of October, Amazon say that they will sell almost all of Verizon phones for 1 penny each. The transport cost is included but it will take 2 days for your phone to be delivered. Still I wonder what part of that penny is the transport?

Although Amazon didn’t say anything regarding the Verizon 1 penny phone, I expect that an activation fee to be required.

You can pick from Amazon’s site one or more of the 31 Verizon phones, included in this offer: from Blackberry’s (I don’t know would pay a penny on them ) to Android smartphones. The phone I would choose from this Amazon – Verizon offer is Motorola Droid Bionic. It’s normal price $299.99, with a 2 year Verizon contract, of course.

Another top sale would be the HTC Thunderbolt, a 4G Android, which has a standard price of $249.99in the Verizon offer. Some more than 1 penny worth smartphones should be considered to be : the HTC Trophy (which is, by the way, the only Windows Phone in this offer), the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G.

Don’t expect that the iPhone from Amazon Verizon joint offer to be put in 1 penny phones group.

So, where is the catch with these Amazon – Verizon 1 penny phones?

You can’t say it is a catch. Ok, in order to buy 1 penny phones from the Amazon – Verizon offer, you have to make a new 2 years contract, with a minimum monthly fee of $70 consisting in voice and data services. Or you can be an already existing Verizon customer which ads some new options to its old contract. Fair enough, I would say.

I would like to know your opinion. Are you so mad about the new iPhone 4S and you can’t look at anything else? Or some 1 penny phones from Amazon – Verizon’ s offer might tempt you considerig that we are talking here about some really good and new Android smartphones or about some Blackberry’s (I doubt that you will be tempted by the last one considering the RIM Servers down event from the last week ) ?

In 2007 Verizon and Vodafone joint-venture announced that they will launch the 4G standard LTE network by the beginning of 2011. In December 2010, the 4G network of Verizon replaced their old CDMA.
