Alienware announced a new personal computer designed to deliver enough power to play games without taking up as much space as a normal desktop. The X51 is third the size of the Alienware Aurora desktop, measures 14.5 x 12.52 x 3.74 inches and weighs only 12 pounds. It has an Xbox 360 look but maintains the Alienware feel, plus it can be placed vertically or horizontally.

The base model is priced at $ 699 and includes an Intel Core i3 2120 at 3.3 GHz, Nvidia GeForce GT4545 graphics card, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a 1TB hard drive. According to the company, this Alienware X51 configuration is sufficient to deliver an average of 32cps in Battlefield 3 with high settings and 1080p resolution.

However, you can improve the specification by including an Intel Core i5 or i7, an Nvidia GeForce GTX555, up to 8GB of RAM and a slot for a Blu-ray instead of standard DVD drive. Alienware X51 comes with an external power supply of 240W but there is an optional version of 330W.

Among its other specs are Windows 7 Home Premium, Wi-Fi, six USB 2.0 ports, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4 output that can connect to HDTVs and high definition 7.1 audio. It also comes with pre-installed Steam and Portal to have something to play out of the box. Unfortunately the base model comes with no keyboard or mouse.

Alienware X51 has no support for multiple graphics cards or exotic cooling solutions, but is different from most of the small computers. Alienware says the X51 offers easy access to internal components for easy upgrades and modifications in general.

The Alienware X51 is available directly through Dell’s web page . Besides the base model priced at $ 699, there are settings available from $ 899, and $ 1149.
