A couple of hours ago MuscleNerd has published some details which are related to the untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5.1.1. It has unnoficially been called Absinthe 2.0.
For the beginning, you need to know that this solution is working on all the iDevices coming from Apple. However, there is just one condition which needs to be fulfilled: iOS 5.11 should already have been installed on them. the 3rd generation of Apple TV has been excluded from this privileged list of devices.
Absinthe 2.0 will be working on iOS 5.1, too, but iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPhone 4S will have to be updated to iOS 5.11. Otherwise, this new untethered jailbreak application will not run on these specific devices.
On his Twitter profile, MuscleNerd has provided this particular information: this new solution for 5.1.1 is working flawlessly. Of course, the hacker has confirmed the fact that Apple TV 3 is not subject of this jailbreak solution. Other information related to this subject can also be found on the social network profile: it looks like, initially, the developer has been using a kernel exploit that has been discovered by westbaer. However this would have excluded older Apple devices like iPod 3 or iPhone 2 and 1. Fortunately, the saving solution came from planetbeing. This has allowed the new iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak solution to work on these last devices, too.
We also find out, from the above mentioned social network profile, that Absinthe is supporting both 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 thanks to pimskeks. And that happened due to the fact the “5.1.1 A5 JB is very similar to the A5 5.0.1 JB”. Furthermore, we are also noticing the fact that there will be another similarity to 5.0.1: 5.1.1 CLI “cinject” binary. Another new untethered jailbreak redsn0w version has also been announced.
Unfortunately no release schedule has been announced by MuscleNerd. That’s because, as the hacker declared on its Twitter profile, there are a lot of factors which influence this.
In order to conclude on this matter, we can observe that the new jailbreak is similar with the one for iOS 5.0.1 and it will be available in a version which will allow the using of CLI interface. The news are stopping here, however. We don’t know for sure when this solution will be available to us. Don’t panic though. You should be able to get your hands on it by the end of this week.
As always, if you have news on this subject, please feel free to use our below mentioned comment form. You should do the same thing if you have some thoughts to express here, too.
